Read the code correctly
P0335 points to a missing crankshaft-position signal, not a universal sensor location. Depending on the engine, the CKP sensor may read the crank pulley, reluctor wheel, or tone ring from the timing-cover or block area, so verify the exact vehicle-specific service diagram before replacing it.
Approximate orientation only: the CKP sensor can sit at the front, rear, or side of the block and may read a reluctor wheel rather than the visible harmonic balancer. Confirm the exact location for the engine being serviced.

Look for the sensor near the crank pulley, harmonic balancer, reluctor wheel, or lower timing-cover area and check for oil, impact damage, or a loose mounting point.

Inspect the balancer and trigger area for wobble, separation, missing teeth, debris, or a harness routed too close to the rotating assembly.

Trace the connector and harness for chafing, oil soak, pulled clips, corrosion, poor terminal fit, or contact with the harmonic balancer and timing-cover edge.

Safe setup
Keep the engine off and cool for visual checks, stay clear of belts and fans, never reach near a rotating crank pulley, and leave running-engine signal testing or timing-cover work to a properly equipped shop.
